SUS Global Surgery Scholar Award

The SUS and SUS Foundation are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the Academic Global Surgery Award.

Purpose:
To promote the efforts of SUS members in the field of Academic Global Surgery (AGS).

Description:
This award provides SUS members involved in AGS with the opportunity to serve as a Visiting Grand Rounds Speaker at hosting U.S. academic institutions. One Academic Global surgery scholar and up to 3 U.S. hosting institutions will be selected each year. The winner will receive recognition as the SUS Global Surgery Scholar and a $500 stipend.

Eligibility:

  • The awardee must be an active SUS member in good standing and involved in AGS work for at least 5 years.
  • The awardee is expected to give up to 3 Grand Rounds presentations (1 in-person, up to 2 more virtual) on the same or different topics at up to 3 hosting U.S. academic institutions over a 1 year period.

When to Apply:
All required materials must be submitted to the SUS Office via the form below by Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 12:00PM Pacific Time. The awardee will be announced at the Academic Surgical Congress (ASC) taking place February 7-9, 2023 in Houston-Texas.

Committee Review:
Applications will be reviewed by the SUS Academic Global Surgery Committee. The Committee will notify the top-ranking applicants and invite them to a virtual interview in January. Additional details on the interview process will be sent to the chosen applicants. The successful applicant winner and the host institution will be notified by email.
