Guidelines for Use by Third Parties of SUS Sponsored or Developed Content that Is Publicly Accessible
SUS content may be used by third parties if 1) SUS develops it or it is presented at a SUS sponsored event and 2) SUS first makes it available to publicly accessible websites.
- SUS Content is defined as research or educational talks, seminars, debates, presidential addresses, visiting speaker addresses delivered at an SUS sponsored meeting or developed by the SUS. The type of media includes videos, audio recordings, power point presentations, and webinar recordings.
- Third Party Entities are defined as corporations (for profit or non-profit); limited liability companies; community, VA, or academic hospitals; medical or non-medical societies; on-line blogs; and news media outlets.
When the SUS elects to make material publicly available, Third Party Entities can provide and use on-line links to the aforementioned content on their internet sites. Display of this public on-line link along with a visual display, screen shot, or still image of the material is allowed.
The SUS does not specifically endorse any Third Parties Entities that reference or provide these publicly available on-line links to SUS Content (as defined above). If the SUS chooses to endorse any specific Third Party Entity, a specific endorsement statement will be displayed.
The SUS requires that if Third Parties Entities display SUS Content (i.e., on-line), they must provide the following disclosure statement: The Society of University Surgeons, the organization where this content originated, does not specifically endorse {insert name of entity}.
On the SUS website, we will display the following verbiage: Third Parties Entities may cite on-line links for SUS content, but use of this content does not imply sponsorship/endorsement by the SUS.
