The object of the Society shall be the advancement of the art and science of surgery by: the encouragement of its members to pursue original investigations both in the clinic and in the laboratory; the development of methods of graduate teaching of surgery with particular reference to the resident system; free and informal interchange of ideas pertaining to the above subjects.

The Society of University Surgeons (SUS) Foundation is dedicated to saving surgical education in America, and to ensuring that today’s most promising young surgeons can pursue an academic career in medicine to benefit the patients of tomorrow and today. America is losing its edge in competitive surgical scientific breakthroughs and advances due to diminishing federal funds, the impact of managed care, and other factors. Tax-deductible gifts and grants to the SUS Foundation -used to support a variety of fellowships and scholarships -are derived from the individual gifts of Society members, grateful patients, foundations and corporations. Your gift today will help to ensure that the SUS can continue its mission to advance and support the art and science of surgery. Please give generously.

SUS contributors may choose to designate their gifts in honor or memory of a particular individual. Such designees will receive a notice informing them of your gift and its use to support surgical research. We provide them your name and address unless otherwise indicated, however, gift amounts remain confidential. Individuals so named will be listed in all relevant SUS programs and public information materials.
